The Ivy has just opened up in the heart of Cheltenham and everyone is talking about it. Let’s just say, date nights don’t get better than this.

Location: The Ivy Montpellier Brasserie, Cheltenham

We booked a ticket to the hottest new spot in town a few weeks ago and it just so happened to coincide with exciting news to celebrate. On entering the restaurant, first impressions were good. The exquisite exterior teases you to what you should expect inside, a stunning restaurant with major ceiling goals.

We rocked up at The Ivy at around 8pm last night, greeted with friendly faces and a real buzz brewing behind those beautiful doors. I remember walking through the same doors when it was Lloyds bank, and I would pop in to use the cashpoint. Oh how things change!

It only took us a few moments after sitting down at our table before excitedly pointing at the salted caramel espresso martini’s – it was cocktail o’clock after all!

I take cocktails very seriously…

As we sipped on our drinks, we perused the menu and took in our surroundings. It really was just as stunning as I’d seen on Instagram.

For our starters, we opted for a basket of the salt-crusted sourdough bread with salted butter and the truffle arancini. There’s a great selection on the menu to choose from, whether it’s fish, meat or something veggie friendly… but you may not want to share. There was enough for each of us to half our first course without any moans about who ate more, although I do wish there had been more truffle arancini to go around, it was incredible!

For our mains, Dan went for The Ivy hamburger (with cheese, of course) and I opted for the classic fish and chips with mashed peas.

The prices range from around £13 to £34, depending on what you choose, and there are a number of side dishes to accompany your choice.

Wearing my favourite Georgina Bywater Jewellery pieces, hand crafted in the Cotswolds.

The Bloody Mary ketchup was the cherry on top, sweet with a kick to it, and the cod was light and fluffy. I was defeated by the generous portion on my plate, whilst D devoured his burger with no trouble at all. I managed to take a small bite and it was just as good as its competitors around town.

If you like people watching, enjoy fine dining and appreciate interior design, then you need to book yourself in at The Ivy. Perfect for special occasions, date nights and catching up with friends over cocktails, Cheltenham has never looked so good.
