A tidy desk is a tidy mind.

I believe there’s a lot of truth to this quote, I instantly feel more organised and productive when my workspace is clean and clutter-free. I spend a lot of time browsing on Pinterest and Instagram for ideas on how to make my environment as pretty as the photographs I ‘heart’ and ‘repin’ on these social media platforms – so I thought I would share my easy ways to create something just as aesthetically pleasing on the eye without blowing your budget.

Now I don’t believe for one second that the photos you see online of these perfectly positioned notebooks and stationary stay that way for very long. For me it lasts until the point I need to get stuff done and my to-do lists are strewn all over the place! I’ll admit that the inspiration for this post stems from starting a new job, and purchasing pretty stationary is essential right?

There’s something really exciting about buying new notebooks and folders. I’m like a kid in a candy shop, so when I popped into HomeSense and saw these beauties I couldn’t resist sharing. I’ve been eyeing up similar metallic pots to this one for a while now but they’ve all cost over £20 and this one was just £9.99 – perfect for storing trinkets or even as a plant holder. I picked up a selection of notebooks for organising thoughts and ideas for different projects and it wouldn’t be a stationary haul without a colourful pile of post-its! They have a gorgeous range of items from different brands to choose from and I’m already trying to find an excuse to go back and pick out some more desk bits…

One last tip is to add a bit of greenery to your desk area. Cliché, but I find it adds to making a calm environment – even if it’s just a realistic fake plant like the one I picked up for under £5! The minimalist look might not always be practical but by simply keeping books stacked up neatly and displaying a couple of cute ornaments around your work space can help productivity as well as creativity, in my experience.

  1. For a stationary fiend like me, this is a dream post and delight to read. Those notebooks look so like the Happiness Planner I’ve been eyeing up! Home sense is such a treasure chest too, so many good finds waiting to be found!

Thank you so much! I’ve been lusting over the Happiness Planner for months too – I think I may just add it to my Christmas Wish List and drop the hint to family members… I’ve got another HomeSense post coming this week so keep your eyes peeled, it’s a festive one! 🙂 xo
